Back in 2017, Shelter SA held a workshop focussing on 'transitions' to capture what works well for Aboriginal peoples at the times they are leaving institutions and returning to their families, communities or other support networks. Shelter SA wrote to all State election candidates prior to the 2018 election outlining the key policy messages from the workshop participants. Steven Marshall acknowledged our letter, made several commitments in response and we waited to see how he would address them post-election. Since the publication of the South Australian Government Aboriginal Affairs Action Plan for 2019-2020, we are pleased to see that our advocacy has influenced the Premier's Action Plan and all of the policy asks we made are addressed. View the full Shelter SA response below, where you can see what we asked for and what we got!
